War for the Planet of the Apes is hitting screens July 14 and it is absolutely one of the best movies of the year. Yup, not just the summer… but the entire 2017 frame. To get audiences up to speed with where we are in the series, Fox has released a “Legacy” featurette that lets you know where we’ve been, so you are locked in and ready to see where we go next.
The film features what should be an Oscar nominated turn by Andy Serikis, returning to the role of Caesar. He is a wanted soul as our film begins. Hunting him most ferociously is a Colonel (Woody Harrelson). Caesar senses that his village of apes is not safe and makes the hard choice that they must move. But, when the most tragic of circumstances collide with our hairy hero, he embarks on a personal mission of vengeance that will surely result in all out War.
War of the Planet of the Apes is helmed by Matt Reeves once again and also features a stand-out performance by one of our favorite actors, Steve Zahn… tackling motion capture for the first time and hitting it out of the park.
