The psychotic clown who loves red balloons, well his time in the spotlight is about to illuminate! Besides the calendar telling us that the film’s release date is merely a month away, the marketing materials are starting to push into overdrive. Warner Bros. has unveiled a chilling new IT Chapter 2 “Dolby” poster and behind-the-scenes featurette.
The sequel to IT is helmed by the first film’s movie maestro, Andy Muschietti, and that could not be more of a good thing. Muschietti had the most impeccable of touches with one of Stephen King’s most terrifying tales (and yes, that is saying something). He also cast brilliantly with the young actors tapped to play The Loser’s Club carried the film to huge success and a passionate following of King fans who feel that it immediately went down as one of the most memorable, scary and sensational of the author’s page-to-screen efforts.
Filling the (now older) shoes of The Loser’s Club is also another casting coup on the part of everyone involved in IT: Chapter 2. As seen in that first IT: Chapter 2 trailer, Jessica Chastain embodies our favorite red head and she’s joined by James McAvoy and Bill Hader, for starters. Back behind the clown makeup is Bill Skarsgard.
The film takes place two-plus decades after the events of the first film and how it rocked Derry, Maine. The kids have moved on in their lives, but something is calling them back to their hometown, a place they only reluctantly visit. Who can blame them?!
We’re guessing there’s some Pennywise action brewing in the streets of the formerly quiet New England hamlet and if you recall, they made a pact that should that killer clown resurface, they would reunite and send him back to hell.
