Shazam Unveils Logo for DCMU’s Latest

As a longtime fan of Zachary Levi (Chuck), we could not have been more thrilled when he was tapped by DC Comics to portray the title character in their upcoming film adaptation of the comic book Shazam! If you are a fan of Levi and especially a fan of the comic book, you are going to be thrilled with the first look at the film’s official logo… sported on the first one-sheet we have gotten for the film that is due later next year.

Warner Bros. and DC could use a hit, after the muddled success they have had of lately. Last year’s Justice League should have been a seismic smash, and instead it was seen as a largely thunderously empty superhero film that left a lot to be desired by many. That mirrored the lack of success for Suicide Squad as well.

Yet, with the blockbuster reception of Wonder Woman, the superhero powerhouse (DC characters continue to be the most popular in the comic book world) should hope for the same response to the Shazaam! release.

The story follows a 14-year-old boy. When he utters the titular word, he becomes an adult superhero capable of saving the world. The film’s villain is no stranger to the DC movies universe. It is Mark Strong, who you might remember from his turn in the failed Green Lantern.

Shazaam! also stars Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andres, Ron Cephas, Marta Milans and Ian Chen.

Look for it in theaters April 5, 2019.
