A trailer arrived today for a summer movie we cannot wait to see, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch. Oh, they will be plenty of explosions, just the figurative type with an acting troupe that finds themselves in 20th Century France, full of ex-pats and the wildest of Wes-driven plots.
As only Anderson can, he has crafted a make believe French community of Ennui-sur-Blasé and chronicles the very last issue of a publication that shares the movie’s moniker. Frequent collaborators with Anderson envelope this ensemble, led by Bill Murray as the editor of said publication and the film follows three stories that his journalists are covering—all filled with madcap absurdity and always-penchant for punching raw societal commentary.
Anderson has not released movie in two years, since Isle of Dogs, and it’s been six years since a live action picture was directed by the wildly inventive storyteller, 2014’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. We adore his work and cannot wait for this summer stellar slice of cinema.
Fellow Andersonian actors fill out the cast, including Owen Wilson, Bob Balaban, Frances McDormand, Adrien Brody, Wally Wolodarsky and Tilda Swinton. Joining the esteemed troupe are some seriously talented thespians, including Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux, Benicio del Toro, Henry Winkler, Elisabeth Moss, Griffin Dunne and Lyna Khoudri.
Look to dive into The French Dispatch on July 24.
