Oscars Winners: Spotlight, Mad Max: Fury Road Win Big

Although Spotlight won Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay, the big winner from the 88th Annual Academy Awards was Mad Max: Fury Road. The George Miller directed masterpiece (which topped our top 15 of 2015) captured six golden statues to the Best Picture winner’s two.

For more on the Oscars themselves, don’t miss our Oscar Watch columns throughout the day, but here are a few notable moments for The Movie Mensch.

Emmanuel Lubezki did something absolutely incredible… he won his third STRAIGHT Oscar for Best Cinematography. After winning for Gravity and Birdman in the last two years, he scored his third consecutive Oscar for his work on The Revenant.

Also memorable was the victory of The Hateful Eight composer Ennio Morricone. The Italian legend finally scored his first Academy Award after inspiring so many for years with his work on Spaghetti westerns.
