The Golden Globes are a thing of the past, now our attention turns to the most Oscar pertinent awards, most notably the SAG Awards, Oscars and the BAFTAs.
The British Academy unveiled its 2018 nominations and it a similar theme is starting to emerge as director Guillermo del Toro and his The Shape of Water lead the way with 12 nominations, followed behind by recent Golden Globe Best Drama winner, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Darkest Hour – which each earned nine nominations.
Behind those three films is a surprise entrant on the awards season calvalcade, Blade Runner 2049, who scored eight nods.
The BAFTAs will be handed out February 18
