QT8 The First Eight Trailer: Inside the Mind of Quentin Tarantino

The trailer for a documentary Quentin Tarantino fans have been waiting forever for teases a film that could not be more complete. QT8: The First Eight lands from filmmaker Tara Wood (who recently turned her camera on Richard Linklater), features a who’s-who of thespians who have inhabited Tarantino’s films since the beginning for some candid insight into what it is that makes this former video store clerk an absolute cinematic genius.

The doc includes interviews with Michael Madsen, Samuel L. Jackson (whose comments on QT’s dialogue is about as rich as it comes), Christoph Waltz, Diane Kruger, Kurt Russell and so many more. It’s dizzying how much insight these folks have provided into the auteur’s work, simply from this short trailer. The doc cannot get her soon enough.

Now, you’ll notice the title contains the number eight. Obviously, this was put together before Tarantino’s most recent work—Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Wood’s film takes us through the making of his first eight films: Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight.

One of our favorite comments arrives from Madsen who talks about the best all-female fight of all-time from Kill Bill and how … well, just watch it.

Look for the Tarantino doc on demand everywhere on my birthday, December 3. That’s quite a gift to me.
