Jungle Cruise Trailer Teases Disney’s Latest Ride to Screen Effort

Dwayne Johnson and Oscar nominee Emily Blunt seem like an odd pairing. Yet after witnessing the first trailer for their Jungle Cruise flick from Disney, it is an absolute match made in cinematic heaven.

Of course, everyone knows, that Jungle Cruise is an iconic ride at Disney’s theme parks. The ride joins Pirates of the Caribbean in the leap to the silver screen and the Mouse House sure hopes that audiences flock to the cinemas the same way they did for the Johnny Depp starring blockbusters.

With Jungle Cruise, the film stars Emily Blunt, who plays a wealthy researcher named Lily Houghton and Dwayne Johnson as a steamboat captain who is charged by Lily and her brother McGregor (Jack Whitehall) to head down the Amazon jungle on the river in search of what … ? Well, let’s just say that it is somewhat supernatural, somewhat grounded in reality and all Disney magic.

Jaume Collet-Serra directs and the helmer of The Commuter is a fantastic choice as his way with actors is well known and his handling of jaw-dropping action sequences is well known.

If the film gives off Romancing the Stone meets The Mummy vibe, then you are not alone. That is totally what I’m feeling. And you know what? I’m liking it.

Jungle Cruise also stars Paul Giamatti and Jesse Plemons (Game Night scene stealer). Look for it in theaters on July 24, 2020.
