The Turning Trailer: A Horror Classic Gets Reimagined

There’s a lot of buzz around gothic horror right now, what with the astounding work that was achieved with The Haunting of Hill House. One can see why it was a good idea to look into taking the Henry James tale, The Turn of the Screw, and bring it to audiences anew. Hey, that rhymed!

What we get is from the writers of The Conjuring and the first trailer for The Turning has arrived. The pedigree is there, and judging by the below teaser, the production design, the casting, and even the musical tone is pitch perfect for bringing a fresh swath of audiences into the majesty that is James’ horror story.

The Turning also has a few young actors attached that are turning in incredible work. There’s the Stranger Things breakout star Finn Wolfhard (also of It fame) and Mackenzie Davis (the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate) who star as oldest child and the nanny, respectively. See, Davis’ character has been tasked with watching over two orphans, (of which Wolfhard is one), in the most enormous of mansions that could simultaneously not be more eerie if it tried.

The Turning scares its way onto screens on January 24, 2020.
