Roma Trailer: Gravity Helmer Alfonso Cuarón’s Stunning Follow-Up

Fresh off his Oscar winning success of Gravity, director Alfonso Cuarón returns with a beautiful tale much more grounded on Earth. The first trailer has landed for Roma and it is both beautiful and haunting. The man who knows how to work his camera like an artist wielding a paint brush has crafted another cinematic mirage to marvel our hearts and minds.

Roma is Cuarón’s first film in five years and follows the goings on in a family in 70s Mexico City, during one of their more challenging times. Yes, the film is in black and white, and only Cuarón could create figurative color where there is an absence of it. It looks amazing.

Having been a huge fan of the filmmaker’s work—from Y Tu Mama Tambien to Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and then City of MenRoma promises to be as emotively powerful as it is richly layered visually.

Roma is his first Netflix feature, and will appear in a select group of theaters before year’s end. Look for it to be the opening night film for the New York Film Festival and serve as a special presentation feature at the Toronto International Film Festival.
