Godzilla King of the Monsters Trailer: Long Live the King!

One of the best elements of the Godzilla: King of the Monsters first trailer is not its larger-than-life titular figure. It is, in fact, witnessing Stranger Things standout Millie Bobby Brown giving the world a first look at her leap to the silver screen. The uber talented young actress dazzles us on the Netflix smash hit and we cannot wait to witness her skyrocketing career taken to new heights in the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla.

Director Michael Dougherty (who gave us the devilishly delightful holiday horror hit Krampus) takes over the directing duties from Gareth Edwards as his film expands its storytelling reach to include quite a few of the big guy’s iconic “friends,” not the least of which is the iconic Mothra, Rodan and a monster whose moniker may include the royal phrase “king,” King Ghidorah… but we all know who the king of the monsters is and his name also commences with a “G.”

The first teaser puts the spotlight firmly on the human stars of the upcoming film. Warner Bros. debuted the trailer at Comic-Con earlier today and the response from the crowd was immense. In fact, it was quite the presentation for the famed studio as they also unveiled trailers for Fantastic Beasts 2, Shazam!, and Aquaman.

Those human stars include some supremely talented individuals beyond Brown, including Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (who can do no wrong in our book), Straight Outta Compton star O’Shea Jackson Jr., The Weight of Water Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins and reprising his role from the first Godzilla, Ken Watanabe.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters asserts its royal command of cinemas on May 31, 2019.
