The Predator Trailer: Shane Black Picks Up Legendary Film’s Mantle

Shane Black is a director whose name alone gets us in the theater. The writer-director dazzled us most recently with The Nice Guys and to larger audiences everywhere, he’s the one who charmed us mesmerizingly with Iron Man 3. He’s also the screenwriter who has given audiences fantastic work dating back to Lethal Weapon. Now, he’s diving into a franchise that has not been heard from in decades and it should make for the most fascinating of combinations. Now that The Predator has unveiled its first trailer, our anticipation level for the latest from Black could not be any higher.

The Predator stars Jacob Tremblay (Room) as a kid, who is just being a kid when he opens a box and inside… boom! It’s something that triggers the return of the intergalactic killer we initially got to know in the first film that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Yeah, hell is unleashed, and the alien onslaught is commencing.

Black’s film has a different feel to it, as much as can be discerned from a trailer. This has a much more sci-fi feel to it, as opposed to the original films’ machismo driven action. We’ll take that, honestly, because in this helmer’s hands this thing is sure to purr like a kitty cat and tick all the boxes that make a suspenseful thriller thrill.

The Predator stars Boyd Holbrook, Keegan-Michael Key, Trevante Rhodes, Olivia Munn, Alfie Allen, Jake Busy, Yvonne Strahovski, Sterling K. Brown and Thomas Jane.

Look for it on September 14.
