The first trailer and poster for Darkest Hour has arrived and in a single word it is: Stunning.
Gary Oldman is British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The Joe Write (Hanna, Pride & Prejudice) film focuses on Churchill as he comes to power, how he was not anybody’s first choice and how in the end, when all the chips were on the table — he was exactly the man that history needed to get the British people (and the free world for that matter) through its Darkest Hour.
The film also stars Baby Driver stand-out Lily James and commences on the eve of World War II, just days before Mr. Churchill was to become Prime Minister Churchill. The backdrop… was only the fall of Western Europe at the hands of the Nazis. The prediction was that the Germans would soon invade and take over Britain and that final vestige of democracy was all that stood between the fall of the entire world as we knew it.
Darkest Hour also stars Kristin Scott Thomas, Ben Mendolsohn and Ronald Pickup.
Look for the biopic from Focus Features on November 22.
