The Space Between Us Trailer: You Made Me Human

The latest The Space Between Us trailer has landed and having seen the film, we have to say… be prepared to be moved in the most powerful of ways.

Asa Butterfield stars as Gardner, the first human being born on the planet Mars. His mother and a dozen-plus people are the first to colonize the Red Planet, but no one knew, not even his mother, that she was pregnant… so his arrival was a surprise to say the least. With no means to get him off the planet, and worried about his physical well being given his innate surroundings on the Martian landscape, Gardner must stay put.

That’s all well and good, except he’s began to communicate with a girl his age in the United States and from what it appears like to the audience, they are falling in love. Britt Robertson stars as Tusla, and she wants to meet her online friend as badly as he wants to travel the 33.9 million miles to simply share space with her.

The Space Between Us also stars Gary Oldman as the man whose brainchild the Mars settlement is, as well as Carla Gugino as the surrogate mother Gardner has on Mars that has raised him after his mother dies during childbirth.

The film is directed by Peter Chelsom, a man who knows a thing or two about delivering heart and emotional power. We’re big appreciators of his work, not the least of which includes The Pursuit of Happiness (with Simon Pegg) and of course Serendipity.

Look for The Space Between Us as the perfect holiday gift when it hits theaters December 16.
