Although the Star Trek: Beyond trailer was set to premiere before the arrival of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the folks at Paramount decided to give the world a little holiday present early. That’s right, the Star Trek: Beyond trailer is here… right now!
This is our first look at any type of footage from the first film in the series to not be directed by J.J. Abrams. He of course jumped ship to that other sci-fi franchise in a galaxy, far, far, away.
Star Trek Beyond is directed by Fast and Furious veteran Justin Lin behind the camera, from a script by longtime series star Simon Pegg. Pegg is back in the cast, along with Anton Yelchin, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and John Cho. Joining the series is Idris Elba, Joe Taslim and Sofia Boutella.
Look for Star Trek Beyond in theaters July 22, 2016.
