Hotel Transylvania 4 Trailer Teases the End of the Franchise

The first trailer for the long-anticipated Hotel Transylvania 4 is here and it is bittersweet for fans of the series. This is the final installment of the film series that stars Adam Sandler as Dracula and Selena Gomez as his beloved daughter, Mavis.

We all know by now that the Hotel Transylvania is a place where monsters can escape and relax and unwind, without the threats that humans pose. That essence has changed slightly over the years, thanks to Mavis’ husband, Andy Samberg’s Johnny. His presence has softened Drac’s views of humans. The thing is, Sandler is out as Drac, and he’s been replaced by Brian Hull! From the sounds of the trailer, he nails the accent… so, so far so good.

The fourth film in the series also brings back Kevin James as Frankenstein, Kathryn Hahn returns as Ericka Van Helsing, with Steve Buscemi as Wayne, David Spade as Griffin, Keegan-Michael Key as Murray, Fran Drescher as Eunice, Jim Gaffigan as Professor Abraham Van Helsing, and Molly Shannon, Asher Blinkoff, Brad Abrell in other roles.

It will be interesting to see if audiences return in droves as they have for the first three installments without Sandler. There was something so utterly endearing and charming about his Drac.

The premise is pretty much laid out in the trailer. Van Helsing has developed an invention that turns monsters into people and vice versa. Johnny doesn’t feel respected by Drac and never accepted into the family, so he decides to become a monster—then the chaos ensues with monsters—like Dracula—being made into humans! Oh, the horror!

Genndy Tartakovsky, whose baby this is, returns as screenwriter and director of Hotel Transylvania: Transformania.

Look to catch Transformania in theaters July 23.
