As Bad Boys for Life lands on digital services today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has offered up the ultimate tease. Yes, that’s right—hit play on the player below and the famed studio has given you the first nine minutes of one of the welcomed surprises of the cinematic year.
Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are back as Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery, respectively, and one thing was immediately clear when I took in this flick in the theaters back in February. These two haven’t lost a step and there’s a reason why the topic of a third Bad Boys flick never went away after decades of false starts. Why? Because there is something effervescent about Lawrence and Smith together. Their chemistry is off the charts and specifically witnessing these two as these two characters is a cinematic gift that, thankfully, keeps on giving.
Now, this is one shrewdly smart marketing move. After these nine minutes, it would be hard to just be like, “yeah, OK, I’ll pass.” Look for lots of folks to witness the above beginning of the movie and close one window and open another to purchase the latest SPHE flick.
The thing is, that opening is simply the tip of the iceberg as Bad Boys for Life is one stylishly sensational fun ride. If you’re partial to the DVD and Blu-Ray editions of flicks, you’ll have to wait until April 21 and after the above tease, that will be a challenge. Just sayin’!
