Scream Trailer: Ghostface Returns to Haunt Old Hats and Newbies Alike for Fifth Film

Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for the fifth installment in the Scream franchise that will feature fan favorites and a bevy of beautiful young souls dealing with the masked killer who is obsessed with horror movies and bringing them to life.

It’s the anniversary of the original, Scream, and it is only fitting that we get a teaser for the next installment that features a case that has weathered the storm and survived and now must prepare for a fresh onslaught for a new fellow (or lady) who has donned the horrific mask and has a mission of inflecting the most carnage possible.

Also, not a bad idea to return to Woodsboro than the month that is made for spookiness and terror, October. The film lands on January 14, 2022, but this teaser should be the fear right into your spite.

David Arquette reprises his role as Detective Dewey, while Courteney Cox returns as the writer/reporter who has a complicated relationship with our protagonist, Sydney (Neve Campbell)—who has the best line in the trailer, “I’m Sidney Prescott, of course, I have a gun.”

The tagline to Scream is a huge hint: “It’s always someone you know.” It’s true. It’s always been someone that you least expect, but an individual who is right amongst us.

We also appreciate the token Scream calling Sidney and saying,” Hello Sidney!’ That alone elicits chills and so much more in the horrifying realm.

The first Scream poster has also been released.

Mary Shelton returns to the role of Office Judy Hicks from the last movie, and is joined by newbies including Melissa Barrera, Jack Quaid (The Boys), Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnette, Sonia Ben Ammar, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner, and Mikey Madison. Look for Scream in theaters on January 14, and yes, Kevin Williams—the original Scream screenwriter—returns to the role of producer.
