New Order Trailer: Teases Terrifying Dystopian Future of Haves and Have Nots

A terrifying new trailer has arrived for Michael Franco’s New Order. No, it’s not a biopic of the English new wave band, it’s a horrorshow about what happens when the 99-percent have enough and take it out on the one-percenters. Plus, toss in a little horror milieu, and you have one heck of a ride that I cannot wait to see.

New Order stars Naian González Norvind, Diego Boneta, Samantha Yazareth Anaya, Dario Yazbek Bernal, and Patricia Bernal and was an official selection of the Toronto Film Festival as well as winning the Grand Prize Jury Winner at the Venice Film Fest.

The film commences at a wealthy wedding and there is bliss plastered everywhere.

Soon, things start to turn dark, and then… really, really dark.

Franco’s flick looks for audiences to ask questions, not necessarily take to the street, but does inherently have one thinking about the haves and the have nots. How long will the have nots simply go to work every day and just accept the world is what it is and there’s nothing we can do?

Someone in this film, which I assume we’ll learn, decided that the numbers are in the favor of the 99-percenters, and what would happen if they decided they had had enough?

Look for New Order to hit theaters May 21. I for one, will be first in line.

Official Synopsis:

“Conceived six years ago, Michel Franco’s near-future dystopia feels ripped from headlines that haven’t yet been written. While protests rage in the streets, Marianne’s high society family prepares for her wedding. At first, only splatters of green paint and the appearance of Rolando, a former employee seeking emergency medical funds, intrude on the festivities. But soon the party is unable to keep the reckoning at bay, and what follows is a swift disintegration of law and order defined first by class lines, then by disastrous government recapitulation.”
