The fantastic first teaser trailer for Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has arrived in all its glory.
The trailer debuted with a new poster (below) that debuted on the lead actor’s, Simu Liu’s socials. It’s his birthday! The teaser was a surprise to everyone… no one saw this killer preview coming. Oh, that Marvel, you’re so sneaky!
Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings features Liu as the titular character, Shang-Chi, who must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization.
The highly anticipated flick also features Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina (Ocean’s 8) as Shang-Chi’s friend Katy and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, as well as Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng.
This is the beginning of a new franchise for Marvel, which is entering Phase 4 of their storytelling monolith. The story follows Shang-Chi as he is raised by his father Wenwu (Tony Leung) with hopes that he will be his future apprentice. Only thing, Wenwu is the head of a criminal organization with a stranglehold on the city.
Instead of joining his dad, he walks away and devotes his life to bringing down the baddies that inhabit his world. The trailer looks terrific, and we cannot wait to enter an all-new chapter of Marvel that could not celebrate diversity more with its ensemble being comprised by an Asian 98-percent cast, according to Marvel head Kevin Feige.
Destin Daniel Cretton is our director with David Callaham, Cretton, and Andrew Lanham serving as screenwriters.
Look for the latest from the super studio when Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings lands in theaters on September 3.
