Coming 2 America director Craig Brewer talked to The Movie Mensch for a video Q&A where he shared insight into what it was like to work with star Eddie Murphy. Not just as a co-star, but what Murphy was like as a collaborator who was clearly so involved in the creation of this world and its sequel.
Brewer also starts the interview by talking about his biggest fear heading into filming and how he “didn’t want to let people down.” But he learned from making the Footloose remake, you have to put all that aside and make your movie.
Coming 2 America finds Arsenio Hall (as Semmi) and Murphy reuniting and returning to America in search of an heir that Prince Akeem never knew he had. How this discovery will change things back in Zamunda is just the tip of the charming and entertaining iceberg that is Brewer’s film.
