Cruella Trailer: Emma Stone Channels the Devilish de Vill

Disney has unveiled the first official trailer for Cruella. The live-action prequel to 101 Dalmatians finds star Emma Stones taking over the titular role and this way we get to see exactly how the classic Disney baddie became so evil and so darn obsessed with those dalmatians.

Stone has completely and utterly transformed into the classic villain yet injected her own touches that permeate the new trailer and are sure to be ever-present in the film itself.

This is a transformative piece, where Cruella doesn’t necessarily start out evil, but circumstances and her “slightly mad” persona push her over the edge.

Originally, Cruella was set to debut during Christmas 2020, but as we all know—there’s this little pandemic that is gripping the planet. Now, we’re looking at May 2021… if all goes well.

Cruella takes us to the streets of 1970s London where the young Cruella de Vil comes into her own and there’s even a hint about those pesky puppies that she becomes obsessed with in 101 Dalmatians. They seem to see it coming, as they growl as she waltzes in the room at one point in the trailer.

Cruella also stars Emma Stone, Mark Strong, Paul Walker Hauser, Kirby Howell-Baptiste and Joel Fry. It is co-written by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara (The Favourite).

Look for it on May 28, 2021.
