Nine Days is firmly an auteur’s movie, as Edson Oda wrote and directed the Sundance Film Festival hit. The film’s first trailer is here and not only does it tease the stunning work from star Winston Duke (Black Panther, Us), but the talent announcement arrival of a filmmaker who audiences are going to fall in love with.
The film appears to take place in a blurred reality. A landscape where life and death are bridged. Duke, from the looks of things, portrays the person who decides the “what’s next” for people who have just perished. Do they return to Earth in another form or do they have some other option?
Duke’s character “tests” each soul and if you pass the quiz over the titular time period, you get to go back and be re-born. If you fail, well then…
Duke is joined in the cast by Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Tony Hale (Arrested Development), Bill Skarsgard (It and It: Chapter 2), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange), Arianna Ortiz, and David Rysdahl.
Look for Nine Days to land in theaters at some point in early 2021.
