Last Halloween, the belle of the haunted ball was the Sony Pictures Animation effort, Addams Family. After banking $203 million (on a $24 million budget), the fact that a sequel is coming should hardly surprise. Yet, out of nowhere, we get a teaser trailer that serves as an announcement that Addams Family 2 is in production. There’s also a snazzy first poster too!
Are your fingers ready to snap up some more animated awesomeness and devilishly define fun from the family Addams?
Oscar Isaac will return as Gomez Addams, the patriarch of our spooky clan, as Charlize Theron will reprise her role as Gomez’s beloved, the matriarch Morticia. Nick Kroll could not have been better cast as Uncle Fester. He too is returning, as well as Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Javon “Wanna” Walton takes over for Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley, Snoop Dogg returns as Cousin It, Bette Midler is back as Grandma Addams, and Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara come back as Grandpa and Grandma Frump.
Bill Hader joins the cast as a yet unknown character while Greg Tiernan comes back to the director’s chair, alongside Laura Brousseau and Kevin Pavlovic.
Although the plot is completely a mystery, we do know that it will still emanate from the comic strip cartoons by Charles Addams. Look for Addams Family 2 in theaters for Halloween 2021.
