Hollywood Critics Association Announces its 2019 Nominees!

The third annual Hollywood Critics Association Awards have taken their first step towards anointing this year’s best as the group (formerly known as The Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society) announced their list of nominees for the top cinematic experiences of 2019. Leading the charge with 11 nods is Once Upon a Time in Hollywood—Quentin Tarantino’s triumphant epic that re-imagines what happened with the Manson Family and specifically, Sharon Tate (as triumphantly played by Margot Robbie).

Right behind Tarantino’s latest is Martin Scorsese’s Netflix produced gangster epic, The Irishman, with its nine nods. Tied with the Jimmy Hoffa-centric opus is Trey Edward Schults’ sensational family drama, Waves. Joker also came up big with seven nods, while The Farewell also scored seven nominations.

In a fascinating change of power, one could discern, Netflix nabbed a total of 20 nominations, while the indie house A24 scored 18 nods and Sony earned 16 nominations.

The winners will be handed their awards during the third annual awards dinner-event, held on January 9, 2020.

Here’s the full list of the HCA nominations. Congrats to all for their part in crafting a stunning year in film.
