The Way Back Trailer: Ben Affleck Tries to Recover

The stunning new trailer for the Ben Affleck starring The Way Back has arrived online from Warner Bros. and it will warm, and break, your heart.

Affleck plays a former high school basketball standout whose life has taken him about as far from that elevated adulation as possible. He’s an alcoholic (Affleck has gone through treatment himself in real life) and is close to hitting rock bottom. He’s lost his family, he’s on the verge of losing his job and tragedy of the highest order has struck down his will to live.

Basically, Affleck has nothing left until an old acquaintance approaches him. His old school needs a basketball coach after their previous one had a heart attack. He takes the job and begins his The Way Back journey.

Between the music of the trailer and Affleck exorcising his own demons in a powerful turn (at least from what we can glean from a 2-minute trailer, this film has just been put on the ole calendar in pen for March 6, 2020.

Gavin O’Connor is behind the camera as director. He is the helmer of the stunning Affleck starring drama, The Accountant. He’s also the guy who gave us another sports movie of immense power, Warrior.

The Way Back also stars Michaela Watkins, Glynn Turman, Al Madrigal and Janina Gavankar.
