The Invisible Man from Upgrade filmmaker Leigh Whannell stars Elisabeth Moss as a woman whose ex was abuse and controlling, and that’s putting it mildly. When she finally summons the courage to leave him, he slits his wrists and perishes. Or, that’s what he would want you to believe.
This is an update on the Dark Universe films of Universal that was attempted to be restarted by the Tom Cruise starring The Mummy. Thankfully, this film looks utterly terrifying and thrilling to the ninth degree. Moss is joined in the cast by Aldis Hodge, Storm Reid and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
The latter portrays a scientist (brilliant or mad … or both?) whose control over Moss’ character seems to exist long after he’s supposedly gone. She discovers that he has found a way to make himself invisible and no one believes her … at first.
The first teaser above is brilliant, doesn’t give away too many of the scares and intrigues us as so many of the Blumhouse movies do.
The Invisible Man is based on the U.G. Wells’ story and was crafted into a screenplay by Whannell. The pedigree alone on this effort has our full attention. Moss is an actress who is working at the top of her game, what with this past year’s stunning turn in Her Smell.
Look for thrills and chills when the flick lands February 8, 2020.
