Ready for a trailer that will hit all the emotive buttons in one fell swoop? Check out the latest trailer for Waves. It has been called one of the best movies of the year and from what this teaser teases, that is not far off.
A24 is releasing what looks to be another gem in their always-awesome cap. The film comes from writer-director Trey Edward Shults, the guy who gave us the stunning It Comes at Night.
Waves finds its visual palette from its south Florida locale and besides looking beautiful on the eyes, even from a short teaser we can tell that it is an utterly gorgeously written script as well. Everything about this movie screams Oscar and must-see.
The story follows a South Florida African-American family trying to do their best to live the American dream. Live in the suburbs and navigate life as best they can. According to the synopsis, they experience, “love, forgiveness, and coming together in the aftermath of a loss.”
Waves features up-and-comer Kelvin Harrison Jr., as well as Sterling K. Brown, Neal Huff, Clifton Collins, Jr. Renee Elise Goldsberry, Lucas Hedges, Taylor Russell and Alexa Demi. Look to surf some Waves one November 15 and expanding in more theaters after that.
