For those of us who have always been fascinated by weather, the idea of a time where there were no folks to predict such things is an interesting one. That premise is the base of the stunning trailer from Amazon Studios for their film The Aeronauts.
The film stars Felicity Jones (Star Wars: Rogue One) as an aeronaut who was decades ahead of her time. Amelia Wren was one of the few women of the late 1800s who pushed back against a society who said that such endeavors were not the lot for women. James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) was determined to make predicting the weather a science. At the time, the scientific community laughed at such notions, believing that it was akin to fortune telling.
Together, Amelia and James would change the world and establish a field that had previously not existed. Their efforts, as quoted in the below trailer, would potentially saves hundreds of thousands of lives.
As a hurricane is set to barrage the United States once again, the timing of this trailer is uncanny.
The Aeronauts also stars Yesterday breakout actor Hamish Patel and will land in select theaters on December 6 and available on Prime Video on December 20.
