Merry Christmas, indeed! The first trailer for director Paul Feig’s latest film has landed and Last Christmas has us completely wrapped up in its charm.
The film stars Emilia Clarke as a woman whose happiness seems to have escaped her. She triumphs over a near-death experience, but its scars are deep and keep her from opening up to friends, family and potentially a love interest. Then, she meets Henry Golding’s Tom and the Crazy Rich Asians star shows her that there’s more to life than she thinks there is and her turnaround may be this year’s best Christmas miracle.
The crème de la crème of this film is the fact that it comes from a screenplay written by Emma Thompson (who also stars as Clarke’s mother) and Feig and features a soundtrack filled with songs from George Michael—including one original song that has never been heard. Of course, the title of the movie is taking from his Wham! Christmas hit song.
There’s a Crazy Rich Asians reunion here with Michelle Yeoh starring as Clarke’s boss (she works at an all-Christmas shop!).
Last Christmas is set to get audiences in the holiday spirit when it lands November 8.
