The incredibly brilliant and sad tale of Judy Garland is coming to the big screen with Oscar winner Renee Zellweger starring as the iconic title soul.
Roadside Attractions and LD Entertainment have revealed the first full-length trailer for Judy. It’s not a complete biopic, per se, as it focuses keenly on a period of the singer/actress’ life when she was working in London, all while trying to keep custody of her children as she battled manic depression and drug addiction.
As history has shown us, Garland’s story is one ripe with Hollywood lessons. As a young star, on films such as The Wizard of Oz, the superstar was given downers and uppers by the studio so she could work when called up and rest when not needed. It led to a lifetime of addiction that included alcohol and a Niagara Falls of pills.
Look for Judy in theaters with Oscar buzz swirling around Zellweger. It also stars Finn Wittrock, Michael Gambon, Rufus Sewell and Wild Rose standout Jessie Buckley.
