The first full trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, has landed. Have to salute the master … using Neil Diamond’s Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show is a stroke of genius. Of course, I may be biased as an enormous fan of both the singer and the filmmaker.
What the first true trailer has shed a light on is the scope of the Charles Manson aspect of the story that previously had been a mystery. It appears as if Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) romances a member of the Charles Manson Family and that is how the notorious cult leader infiltrates our story of TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his best pal, stunt double Booth.
Upon until this point, we only knew that they lived next door to Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and figured that Manson would work his way into the story somehow.
The film has premiered at Cannes Film Festival and Tarantino has asked festival attendees for a blanket of silence when it comes to the film and thus far, he appears to have gotten his wish.
DiCaprio, Pitt and Robbie are joined in the cast by the late Luke Perry, Dakota Fanning, Kurt Russell, Timothy Olyphant, Al Pacino and Margaret Qualley.
Look for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood on July 26.
