Brightburn Red Band Clip Teases the Anti-Superhero Origins Story

That first Brightburn trailer arrived earlier this year and The Movie Mensch was all-in. The film is from the wickedly inventive mind of James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) who has us wondering what if a superman type situation landed in a parents’ lap and instead of a superhero sent from the heavens to repeatedly save the day, it was the embodiment of pure evil.

Elizabeth Banks and David Denman are the perfect parents in search of a child. Then, he literally lands on them in the middle of the night. The baby is brought into their home and as far as the world knows, he is their child.

But there’s something a little off about this boy and it’s not like in the Superman origins story where little by little we get a blueprint for a soul who can do some extraordinary things. In Brightburn, he is a boy who commences terrorizing those who cross his path and one of those moments has been released in the form of a red band clip. Love how this thing is paced. If the film is half as stunning as this three-minute look, prepare for one wild ride.

Brightburn lands May 24 and features  Jackson A. Dunn as the boy, Brandon with Matt Jones and Meredith Hagner filling out the cast for director David Yarovesky.
