Blinded by the Light Trailer: Bruce Springsteen Inspires

The first true trailer for the Bruce Springsteen inspired Blinded by the Light has landed and it has us more than ready to Born to Run to the cinemas to get tickets for this potential instant classic.

The film is based on a true story and comes from the director of one of my favorite films, Bend It Like Beckham. Director Gurinder Chadha has delivered a story about a British-Pakistani teenager who is merely floating through life, run down by the world around him and picked on because he’s different. He has the strong pull of his family and of course, centuries upon centuries of tradition that he values, but also does not want to be overrun by them.

Then, a friend of his gives him a few cassette tapes and his life is changed forever. Who on earth could it be that has that power to alter lives based on his lyrics alone? Of course … Springsteen.

The story is based on the memoir Greetings from Bury Park by journalist Sarfraz Manzoor (who also co-wrote the film with Chadha and Paul Mayeda Berges.

The time period is the 80s and thus, gives us a rich catalog of Springsteen tunes to cull that all-important emotional pull that will grab audiences by the heartstrings and of course there will be some major toe-tapping.

Blinded By the Light is getting some seriously amazing buzz after it debuted at Sundance. It’s been getting “A” reviews across the board. This flick will go down as one of my top 10 most anticipated movies of the summer (stay tuned for that).

Look for the inspirational film on August 14.
