Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first look trailer at director Ang Lee’s (The Life of Pi) latest cinematic mind-bender, Gemini Man. The apt title reflects a story where star Will Smith (as an assassin) is hired to track down and kill a highly trained adversary—himself.
See, some year ago, some nefarious scientists crafted a clone of Smith and those same folks have tasked him with tracking down the mirror image of himself and offing him.
You’ll notice that Lee is using de-aging technology, the same one used in Captain Marvel to make Samuel L. Jackson look 20-plus years younger. It’s come a long way and as you see in the above trailer, it is not distracting in the least. In fact, it truly allows Smith to do some serious deep thespian work as the two characters.
Joining Smith in this sci-fi thrill ride is Clive Owen, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Benedict Wong and Douglas Hodge. Look for the latest from the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon helmer on October 11.
