New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. has unveiled the latest Shazam! trailer for the April 5 arriving flick.
First off, Zachary Levi was born to play the teenage boy turned superhero when he utters the titular word. His comic timing and innocent-capturing thespian ways are an impeccable combination for the DC Comics character.
Shazam! tells the tale of a 14-year-old boy, Billy, who when he shouts the titular word, becomes a superhero of the highest order. Asher Angel portrays the boy, while Levi is the superhero and these guys utterly nail it—at least from what we can tell from the various marketing materials that have been released. That is the key to this entire thing working, the fact that we believe that Levi’s role and Angel’s role are the same. Without that, we have no movie.
This latest trailer is pure comedy as it finds our hero discovering what “super” powers he actually possesses. Shazam! is the first DC Comics character to debut since the astronomical success of Aquaman. Don’t expect the film to have the kind of numbers the Jason Momoa film got, but I still believe that its early April release date is friendly and should see the flick do some solid numbers.
Shazam! also features Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen and Marta Milans.
