Disney has unveiled the latest look at their live action remake of their seminal classic Aladdin. The spot gives us our first look at the bluesy genie played by Will Smith. We don’t get much of Smith’s role, so it’s way to early for those assured comparisons to Robin William’s seismic turn in the role in the animated classic.
Guy Ritchie directs with Mena Massoud starring as Aladdin and Naomi Scott as the drive Princess Jasmine. We’ve been promised a new group of songs from longtime Disney composer Alan Menken and La La Land songwriters Benji Pasek and Justin Paul.
Look for Aladdin on May 24 with Marwan Kenzari starring as Jafar, Navid Negahban tackles the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad is Jasmine’s handmaiden, and Numan Acar as Jafar’s right-hand man.
