John Wick 3 Parabellum Trailer: Nothing’s Ever Just a Conversation with You!

First off, I could not be more excited for the debut trailer to John Wick Chapter 3. It is our first look at the third edition in the John Wick saga (don’t want to call it a trilogy, cause there could easily be a fourth, am I right?!). Also, we have a full name—Parabellum.

Secondly, director Chad Stahelski—back for his second round of Wick wickedness—could not have chosen a more impeccable song to accompany his first teaser for his next flick starring Keanu Reeves in the character he made iconic in the first titular film.

The teaser plays out to a riveting version of Man of La Mancha’s The Impossible Dream. If you think of everything that Wick has been through since the first chapter, the lyrics could not have been more apt. It is as if the song was written for Wick himself. Just a sample of the lyrics:

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go
To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star
This is my quest, to follow that star
No matter how hopeless, no matter how far
To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march
Into hell for a heavenly cause.

Well, on to the trailer now that I’ve teased this puppy enough.

John Wick: Chapter 3 starts up its creative carnage, action as ballet if you will, moments after the close of John Wick: Chapter 2. Wick has done the unthinkable—in terms of his assassin of the world universe—and now has to pay for it. But what’s right is right and the thing that clearly drives him is that fact… he is right.

Wick is a wanted man by the entire world that used to respect and count him as one of their treasured members. There is a $14 million bounty on his head and every single soul in this world has their swords, blades and guns drawn looking for one thing and one thing only—John Wick.

Ian McShane is back in a role he was born to play (much like Reeves was for Wick), and gets the best line of the trailer, “and away we go.” Away we go, indeed. Also returning is Lawrence Fishburne, Common and Ruby Rose. Joining the series is Angelica Huston, Jason Mantzoukas, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tiger Hu Chen, Cecep Arif Rahman and making her appearance felt at the end… Oscar winner Halle Berry!

Look for John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum on May 17. The flick is one of our 30 most anticipated movies of 2019.
