Captain Marvel Special Look: Marvel Shows Off Its Awesome Heroine During Big Game

As if that Captain Marvel trailer wasn’t enough to get the anticipation meter shooting into the red, Marvel Studios unveiled a “special look” at Captain Marvel tonight during the college championship game between Clemson and Alabama. Sure, Clemson routed the reigning champs, but in this case, we think the real winners are fans of Brie Larson and her soon-to-be-iconic turn as Captain Marvel.

The advanced featurette—also released to signify that tickets are now on sale for the film that opens March 8 (with previews starting the evening of March 7)—presents eye-popping visuals that are the hallmark of the comic book studio’s unprecedented 10-year run. That’s not the headline here, honestly.

The real fireworks arrive with the priceless banter between Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury and Larson’s Carol Danvers. Getting past the incredible CG age-defying work that the studio has accomplished making Jackson look like his 90s self, the decade that Captain Marvel takes place, there is something utterly brilliant between these two actors that alone would have me beyond thrilled to be first in line when the latest Marvel movie opens in March.

Toss in the whole alien invasion storyline and all the action sequences that look to continue Marvel’s impressive work, and I think the MCU has its newest blockbuster hit.

Also, could not be happier for Larson. Sure, she has talent beyond her years—evidenced by her Oscar winning performance in the heartbreaking Room—but this is her chance at winning over a legion of fans that will take her fame to levels actors and actresses only dream of achieving.

Joining Jackson and Larson in the cast is returning favorite Clark Gregg, Annette Bening, McKenna Grace, Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte and Algenis Perez Soto.
