Captain Marvel Trailer: Brie Larson Is Our Hero

It was cause for celebration when it was revealed that Oscar winner Brie Larson was Marvel’s choice to be Captain Marvel. Now that they have unveiled the first trailer, that anticipation meter should elevate ever higher.

The 1990s-set film finds Larson as Carol Danvers, a military pilot with superhero powers that seem to emanate from worlds outside ours. That’ll come in handy, as she gets plopped right in the middle of a universe battle between two sets of alien races.

As this film takes place before the worlds of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, one might wonder how Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury and how on earth Clark Gregg is put to work as Phil Coulson. Thanks to CG de-aging, both will be age appropriate—cheers to you movie science.

Some might recognize some faces (if not simply their voices) from previous Marvel installment, such as Lee Pace back as Ronan (from Guardians of the Galaxy) and Djimon Hounsou as Korath (also from Guardians of the Galaxy). Ben Mendelsohn, McKenna Grace, Jude Law, Algenis Perez Soto, Gemma Chan and Lashana Lynch also star.

Look for Captain Marvel to kick some serious cinematic butt when the her-o lands in theaters March 8, 2019.
