When The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo arrived in 2011, we thought that Rooney Mara could not have been a better choice to portray Stieg Larsson’s iconic anti-heroine Lisbeth Salander. With the release of the first The Girl in the Spider’s Web trailer, let’s just say that Mara may have been one-upped with the casting of The Crown’s Claire Foy in the title role.
The so-called reboot starts its action years following the events of the first film. Fede Alvarez picks up the director’s mantle from David Fincher and after the stunning work he did on Don’t Breathe (and Evil Dead), we cannot wait to see what he does with a universe that has Lisbeth Salander ushering her unique brand of justice.
Look for The Girl in the Spider’s Web in theaters on November 9. It also stars Get Out stand-out Lakeith Stanfield, Stephen Merchant, Sylvia Hoeks and Claes Bang.
