The LEGO Movie 2 The Second Part Trailer: Emmet Goes Intergalactic Planetary

We’ve been waiting for this since The LEGO Movie premiered in 2014. The first trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part has arrived and despite appearances in the actual trailer, yes folks, Everything is Awesome still!

The folks of Bricksburg have had kind a rough go of it lately, at least that’s how it is built up in the first trailer for the sequel to the Warner Bros. smash hit. The landscape of the city has been hit hard by something that appears to have been created by a vacuum from the defeat of President Business in the first film.

Nothing unites a people like an invader and boy oh boy do the folks of Bricksburg get one in the form of the invading alien LEGO DUPLO. See, as a father of a small child, I’ve always known those DUPLO were up to no good, what with crushing the bottom of my feet seemingly every day.

It’s time for Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their band of LEGO heroes to head into space and save the day.

Chris Pratt returns as the voice of Emmet, the always optimistic figurine whose stole our hearts four years ago. Elizabeth Banks reprises her fierce role as Lucy and after his own film, The LEGO Batman Movie, Will Arnett tackles the Dark Knight role for the third time (he’s still our best Batman… commence argument now).

Director Mike Mitchell (Trolls) takes over the directing duties for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part from first film helmer’s Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Mitchell also was a second choice after Chris McKay, who the studio tapped to leave the LEGO sequel and helm that Batman Movie. Some would say that everything happens for a reason because the Arnett starring animated smash was an utter delight and from this first teaser, The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part looks equally as, well… awesome.

Also returning from the first film is Channing Tatum as Superman, Jonah Hill as Robin and joining the franchise is the always awesome Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Arturo Castro and Stephanie Beatriz.

Look for another Awesome adventure on February 8, 2019.

Warner Bros. also unveiled the film’s synopsis:

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city. It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than they can rebuild. The battle to defeat them and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a strange galaxy where everything is a musical. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.
