Robin Hood: Taron Egerton Dons the Hood

Do we need another Robin Hood tale? I suppose as much as we needed a new Spider-Man, one could argue that going under the hood of the legendary and original people’s hero, who steals from the rich to give to the poor, is equally as desired. After all, the Hood is one of the great origins stories that exists. Plus, having Kingsman: The Golden Circle star Taron Egerton in the title role, well, that’s all you have to say.

Lionsgate has unveiled the first teaser for director Otto Bathhurst’s fresh and gritty take on the iconic Canterbury Tale that finds the Sheriff of Nottingham (Ben Mendelsohn) hot on the trail of the Medieval vigilante who stole the people’s hearts while he was heisting the wealthy.

Jamie Foxx takes the role of Little John, while Jamie Dornan drops the shackles of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise (thankfully for him) and tackles the role of Will Scarlett, with Maid Marian inhabited by Eve Hewson.

It appears as if Robin Hood is a slightly different take on the tale is this time out, Egerton is kind of doing the Clark Kent/Superman thing by hiding in plain sight as Robin of Loxley.

Prepare to go under the Hood on November 21.
