Pixar has been sequel crazy of late, and that is utterly wild given the animation studio’s reluctance to head down the sequel aisle for any film that wasn’t called Toy Story. This summer brings a Pixar sequel that audiences have clamored for and could not be more thrilled that its June 15 release date is now merely months away. To celebrate the long-awaited sequel to 2004’s The Incredibles, a fresh poster for Incredibles 2 has dropped today and it seems the future is so bright, we’re all wearing… masks?
Director Brad Bird is returning to his animation roots after some success in live action with Tomorrowland and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Bird has had this story for an Incredibles sequel in his head since the mid-2000s and we for one, cannot wait to see what is next for our Incredible family.
Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter are back as the patriarch and matriarch of our super family. This time out, Bob – aka Mr. Incredible (Nelson) – is a stay at home dad watching over their newborn as Hunter’s Elastigirl is needed more and more out in the world doing what she does best.
The Mr. Mom premise has been used, sure, but with Bird’s storytelling talents and the inherent comedic nature of a superhero staying home with the kids, this one screams must-see.
Samuel L. Jackson returns to this world that also includes the voice talents of Sarah Vowell, Bob Odenkirk (The Post), Catherine Keener, Huck Milner, Jonathan Banks, Isabella Rossellini and Sophia Bush.
