The folks at Disney sure chose a fine landscape to unveil their first teaser for their upcoming Mary Poppins Returns… the Academy Awards!
Emily Blunt steps into the legendary shoes (and carries that iconic umbrella) previously owned by Julie Andrews in the upcoming Rob Marshall directed sequel that is due December 25.
Blunt could not have been a better choice to portray Poppins as she returns to once again help the Banks family. See, they have suffered a loss and Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer) are now all grown up. Hamilton wonderkid Lin-Manuel Miranda portrays lamplighter Jack, who is a friend of Mary’s and plays a huge part in bringing happiness to Michael’s three kids.
Mary Poppins Returns also stars Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury, Julie Walters, David Warner and find the return of one of the original film’s stars… the man himself, Dick Van Dyke.
