After many delays and years of wondering whether it would happen or not, The Dark Tower is finally coming soon! Columbia Pictures and MRC has released the first The Dark Tower trailer, starring Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba… check it out in the video player below!
Stephen King’s most wide-scoped novel has been a challenge to bring to the screen and judging by the first teaser, it was certainly worth the wait.
Elba is Roland Deschain (aka The Gunslinger) and McConaughey is Walter O’Dim (also known as The Man in Black in the novels). After many directors took a stab at the project (including Ron Howard), our helmer is Nikolaj Arcel.
The story finds the battle between The Gunslinger and The Man in Black threatening two worlds, and if The Man in Black wins, the world as we know it will be destroyed, “billions will die.” The Gunslinger has some help in the form of a boy named Jake Chambers (Tom Taylor) who brings the hero into our world to put an end to this war between good and evil once and for all.
The cast of The Dark Tower also includes Abby Lee, Fran Kranz, Jackie Earle Haley, Katheryn Winnick and Claudia Kiim.
Look for the battle to commence in theaters August 4.
