Meryl Streep (most recently seen in Ricki and the Flash) stars in the title role, with High Grant appearing alongside her as her husband.

The true story follows Jenkins, a self-professed musical force of nature in the 1940s, who has a dream of being a singer, ultimately wishing to perform on the stage of the famed Carnegie Hall. Jenkins is a heiress and socialite who got it in her head that she deserved to be a singer since she sang for the president of the United States as a young girl.

The thing is, the voice she heard in her head was angelic, but to everyone else, it was cringe worthy. Her husband hired a pianist/vocal teacher (played by The Big Bang Theory’s Simon Helberg) to get her ready for her big gig. How will it go?

Florence Foster Jenkins is directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, Philomena) and also stars Nina Arianda and Rebecca Ferguson.

Look for the charming tale to hit American theaters on August 12 and British cinemas on May 6.
