Fresh off of the release of the film that features her debut, Entertainment Weekly has given the world its first look at Wonder Woman and the Amazonian warriors who train her to be the bad-ass we all know she will become.
Gal Gadot makes her debut in BvS, which hits theaters tomorrow, and frankly is the best thing about the movie – as we stated in our Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice review. Therefore, we couldn’t be more delighted to get our first glimpse of those who are charged with turning the warrior princess into the skilled fighter we all know and love.
Gadot will be getting her own Wonder Woman movie, which features the actress as Diana Prince. Also shown in the photo is Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) as her mother, Robin Wright as her aunt, General Antiope, and Lisa Loven Kongsli as her other aunt, Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe.
Petty Jenkins is bringing the long gestating superhero movie to life in a cast that will also feature Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis.
“Themyscira is influenced by the Greek but it’s clearly more then that,” producer Charles Roven said to EW as part of the feature. “It’s a place that has the ‘you’ve never been to’ kind of feel. But once you’re there you’re not so sure you really want to leave so fast.”
Jenkins adds her two cents in the article as well. “To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armor like men,” Jenkins said.
“It should be different. It should be authentic and real—and appealing to women.”
Look for Wonder Woman on June 23, 2017.
