The Central Intelligence trailer is here and it features the most unlikely of duos. Now that we’ve seen the teaser, in fact, this is casting brilliance. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart (recently seen in Ride Along 2) make a perfect pair in the upcoming action comedy that features Johnson as a CIA agent and Hart as his old high school friend-turned thrilling… accountant?
The film, that also stars Amy Ryan, Ed Helms and Bobby Brown, features Hart’s accountant tracked down by Johnson’s CIA agent on the eve of their high school reunion. The spook needs Hart’s help to stop some truly nasty people who are seeking to sell some state secrets.
“The inspiration behind this character ‘Bob’ has always been Tom Hanks in Big with an added twist. He’s a grown man who’s extremely childlike and views the world thru exuberant and enthusiastic teenage eyes… Loves to wear his favorite Public Enemy shirt, cargo pants and sneakers to work, and rocks a fanny pack which holds his Bruce Lee quotes and a condom (he’s always prepared),” Johnson wrote of his Central Intelligence movie character on an Instagram post earlier this year.
“The ‘added twist’ is Bob has an extremely high IQ and is one of the most lethal men on the planet as a C.I.A. contract killer. Oh the most important character trait.. He hates bullies. Can’t wait for y’all to meet ‘Bob’.”
Central Intelligence comes from director by Rawson Marshall Thurber, who gave us Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and We’re the Millers, hits June 17.
