Ben Hur, starring Charlton Heston, is considered one of the greatest epics of all time. Heck, it’s one of the most stunning cinematic experiences of all time… and it’s getting a remake.
Before you scoff, check out the newly released trailer from Paramount Pictures and MGM for the latest from director Timur Bekmambetov (one of our favorite filmmakers). The man has a vision and a knack for giving us movies that move us, such as Wanted and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.
Stepping into the legendary sandals of Heston is Jack Huston (recently seen in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies) and joining him is quite a living legend, Morgan Freeman.
Ben Hur follows a Roman family, who is betrayed by their adoptive brother Messala (Toby Kebbell). He turns his brother (Huston) into a slave and kills their mother and sister. After five years as a slave, a son will seek his revenge and it will pit brother against brother in a race to the death.
The epic is based on Lew Wallace’s brilliant novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Prepare for the races on August 12.
